My name is Ryan Diefenderfer, and I am a proud graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.  I was born in Yokosuka, Japan, but I spent the majority of my childhood in Mundelein, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago.  I began playing the trombone in 5th grade, and in high school participated in everything my band program had to offer, in addition to Midwest Young Artist's Jazz Program, and the Merit School of Music Trombone Program and Wind Ensemble.

I attended the Indiana University  Jacobs School of Music, where I studied music Music Composition, Music Education, Jazz Studies, and Trombone.  While at Indiana University, I was fortunate to perform in such lovely groups as the Indiana University Symphony Orchestra on Bass Trombone, Brent Wallarab's Jazz Ensemble, the IU Trombone Choir, the IU Brass Choir, the IU Marching Hundred and Soccer Band.  While at IU, I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria and student taught at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana with Richard Saucedo and Soo Han.

I currently reside in Phoenix, Arizona where I lead the Band and Orchestra Programs at Paradise Valley High School.  While at Paradise Valley High School, the programs have grown in size, and consistently earned the highest ratings in Concert and Marching Band festivals.

My compositions have been performed by collegiate groups, including University of Kansas, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and Indiana University.  My brass music is currently available through Cherry Classics Publishing Company. My other compositions and marching band arrangements can be purchased directly through me.

Apart from music, I enjoy traveling, trying new foods, reading, basketball, tennis, and playing with my Australian Shepherd, Hazel!
